Walter & Emily Coleridge of Bombay

Walter COLERIDGE, born in Exeter in 1819, is the ninth son of John & Elizabeth COLDRIDGE. He married Emily in Bombay and they had 5 daughters.

According to J T H Du Boulay's "Coleridge in Devon" document, Walter became a colonel in H.E.I.C.S., leading to my discovery of the following BMD records and accompanying notices in the Bombay Times, where Walter is referred to as Lieutenant COLERIDGE 20th Regiment Madras Native Infantry:

Walter COLERIDGE's marriage at the age of 29 to Emily Howard ROLPH, born around 1823, was recorded on 25th July 1848 in Aden, Bombay. In the marriage notice in the Bombay Times, Emily is referred to as the youngest daughter of William ROLPH Esq. of Thornbury, Gloucestshire.
