John & Emma Coldridge of Exeter
John COLDRIDGE, born in Dunsford in 1827, is the youngest son of John & Rebecca COLDRIDGE. He married Emma in Exeter where he worked as an innkeeper. They appear to have had no children of their own but treated their niece Emma as a daughter.
John COLDRIDGE's marriage to Emma CROOT, born around 1836 in Moretonhampstead, was registered in September 1855 in Exeter.

In 1881 John & Emma are still managing the Red Cow Inn. The younger Emma is recorded as their daughter in this census, which also suggests she was born around 1859 rather than 1855 as in the previous census. Her birth registration has not been found.
