Richard & Elizabeth Coldridge of Okehampton

Richard COLDRIDGE, born in Doddiscombsleigh in 1822, is the only surviving son of Thomas & Mary COLDRIDGE. He had 6 children, lived in Kennford, Upton Pyne, East Budleigh, Ashburton, Wolborough and Exeter, and had several different occupations.

Richard COLDRIDGE's marriage at the age of 22 to Elizabeth MILLMAN from Sampford Courtenay was registered in September 1844 in Okehampton.

Eliza COLDRIDGE's marriage at the age of 19 to Samuel CHURCHWARD of Buckfastleigh, age 22, was registered in December 1865 in Newton Abbot. They lived in Kenn and had 11 children. Samuel died in 1909, and Eliza died in 1919, in Kenn.

In 1881 Richard and Elizabeth have moved to Exeter. Alfred is presumably just visiting since his wife and family are recorded in Wolborough (see Alfred & Ann COLDRIDGE).

Richard COLDRIDGE's death, aged 66, was registered in June 1888 in St Thomas and he was buried in St Thomas cemetery on 18th June 1888.

The Will of Richard COLDRIDGE late of Homedale Princess-street in the Parish of St. Thomas-the-Apostle in the County of Devon Surveyor who died 6 June 1888 at Homedale was proved at the Principal Registry by Elizabeth COLDRIDGE of Homedale Widow the Relict and Richard COLDRIDGE of Union-street Newton Abbott in the said County Accountant and Alfred COLDRIDGE of Queen-street Newton Abbott Corn Merchant the Sons the Executors. Personal Estate £1,113 16s. 6d.
