John & Ann COLERIDGE of Ottery St Mary

John COLERIDGE, born in 1719, is the eldest surviving son of John & Mary COLERIDGE of Crediton, and there is a record of his second marriage in Exeter:

John COLERIDGE & Ann BOWDEN – Marriage 18th December 1753 in Exeter St Mary Arches. Both recorded as residing in South Molton.

In 1753, he became lecturer at Molland (5 miles east of South Molton), where he met his second wife, and was later curate there. In August 1760, he was appointed Schoolmaster and Chaplain Priest of the King’s Grammar School at Ottery, and shortly after appointed Vicar.

Ann COLERIDGE – Baptism 18th June 1767 in Ottery St Mary. Date of birth 10th March 1767.

Francis Syndercombe COLERIDGE – Baptism 6th June 1770 in Ottery St Mary. Date of birth 6th January 1770.

Samuel Taylor COLERIDGE – Baptism 30th December 1772 in Ottery St Mary. Date of birth 21st October 1772.

Madras Courier 2nd February 1792: On the 21st Instant died in Camp, Lieutenant Francis COLERIDGE, of the 14th Battalion of Bengal Sepoys.
