In 1851 Sarah, who is widowed, is still in London with her daughter. There is a record of Sara's death only a year after the census:
Sara COLERIDGE's death, aged 49, was registered in June 1852 in St Pancras.
After the death of her mother, the 1861, 1871 and 1881 censuses record Edith staying with her uncle Derwent, Sarah's older brother, in Chelsea, Brentford and Tormoham respectively.
