William & Elizabeth Colridge of Wolborough

William COLRIDGE, born in 1845, is the second son of John Ponsford & Susanna COLRIDGE of North Bovey. I eventually found a record of William' badly transcribed marriage to Elizabeth:

William ALRIDGE & Elizabeth BABBAGE – Marriage registration September (Q3) 1872 in Totnes.

In 1891 William & Elizabeth are recorded in Wolborough together with their nephew Arthur KNAPMAN, born in Dawlish, who helped me find their marriage record as described below.

In 1881 the young Arthur KNAPMAN is recorded with his parents William & Mary in Dawlish. Mary KNAPMAN's birthplace is given as Berry Pomeroy, the same as Elizabeth COLRIDGE, suggesting they are probably sisters. Living with them is Mary's mother, Elizabeth BABBAGE, who in 1851 is newly widowed in Berry Pomeroy with her daughters Mary and Elizabeth. This made it possible to find William's mis-typed marriage to Elizabeth BABBAGE.
